If I need time off work to take care of my health, am I entitled to it?

Probably. You have a right to reasonable accommodations at work. Time off from work can sometimes count as reasonable accommodation, provided that you are not asking for too much time off and you can work out a plan to compensate for lost time. This may include working 9-6 instead of 8-5 or occasionally working from home, and other such arrangements.
The Constitution of Kenya provides protection from inhumane and degrading treatment. So you are entitled to reasonable working conditions.
Knowing your legal rights is a great way to protect yourself. If none of your questions has been covered here or you would like more advice, please feel free to contact us onsupport@aidslawproject.org
