AIDS Law Project has partnered with various organizations to form the Coalition on Access to Medicines-Kenya. COAM is a loose coalition open to all CSO’s, Network of associations, PLWHIV, pharmacists, doctors, lawyers, journalists and other individuals advocating for improved access to essential medicines for all Kenyans.
The Goal of COAM is “to bring together all networks engaged in the work of ensuring Access to Essential Medicines in Kenya and to provide a framework for the coordination of their work in this area”. COAM’s purpose is “to strengthen capacity of beneficiaries to demand for the availability, affordability and quality essential medicines from the various health stakeholders.” (in line with MDG 8, Target 17)
This Coalition was established to offer new ideas in the form of technical assistance, partnership building, networking opportunities and targeted funding. COAM was thus developed in the belief that effective collective action and innovation will improve Access to Medicines across Kenya.
